Relocation
A relocation is a change, more than 50 miles, in the location of the principal residence of a parent from his or her principal place of residence at the time of the last order establishing or modifying time-sharing. When the parents do not agree to the relocation, there are requirements that must be fulfilled for a court to consider such a request. Factors that a court will consider include a parent’s reason for moving, the economic circumstances of each parent, the impact on the child, the child’s preferences and the relocating parents willingness to maintain the other parent’s relationship with the child.
